On the Cover
Edward Waldron Payne(1857-1932) assembled the largest collection ever of Indian Artifacts. Numbering over one hundred thousand fine artifacts, his death resulted in the greatest artifact sale of all time. This photograph of Payne is from his posthumous published autobiography, The Immortal Stone Age.
