On the Cover: General Gates P. Thruston(1835-1912) was a Civil War General who settled in Nashville and built one of the greatest artifact collections of the 19th Century. Not only is it still intact today, but it can be seen at the Tennessee State Museum, where most of it is on display. The etching of Thruston shown on the cover, was originally printed in the October-December 1910 Vanderbilt University Quarterly.
